SPI provided full design-build services for the newly expanded Minions Land, bringing the Minions from the big screen to the streets of Universal Studios with all the chaos and charm you’d expect from everyone’s favorite banana-loving troublemakers.

Our team collaborated closely with Universal and Illuminations to turn animated concepts into real-world mischief, delivering design, engineering, fabrication, installation, and construction services for steel and blocking. The result is a restaurant where the Minions’ legendary “Freeze Ray” device comes to life withDMX-controlled LED systems, adding interactive lighting effects that feel like an invention straight out of a test laboratory.

Inside and out, every element was designed to be as delightfully over-the-top as the Minions themselves—bright colors, bold shapes, and just enough controlled chaos to make guests wonder what might explode next (safely, of course).

This newly developed Minions Land is also complementary to the work SPI previously performed on Despicable Me Minion Mayhem™, where we fabricated and installed operational signage, show graphics, and their iconic marquee. Together, these projects help create a cohesive, immersive world where guests can join Gru, his daughters, and the mischievous Minions on heartwarming, humorous family adventures.
